Our topic-based curriculum at Henbury Court means that learning is linked across the school, with children across key stages focussing on common themes throughout the year. Each term's topic culminates in a special event at which families are invited to share in our learning.
The topics are:
Term 1: Bristol and Beyond (History and Geography focus)
Term 2: Light Up the World (Science focus)
Term 3: What a Load of Junk (Science, Design & Technology, Sustainability focus)
Term 4: It's a Small World (Geography and PSHE focus)
Term 5: Horrible Histories (History and Art focus)
Term 6: Wild Things (Science, Art and Design & Technology focus)
Regular whole-school events enhance and celebrate the children's learning and allow us to develop links both within the school, and with members of our wider community. Parents and carers are invited to join us for English and Maths demonstration lessons as well as weekly celebration assemblies and special celebrations at Harvest, Christmas, and in the spring.
Each year group also plan several off-site trips per year for children to experience learning in a different context, visiting sites and areas that they have studied in class to see the real-life sources and environments and their effects on people living there.
Please see our News & Dates and Calendar sections for information about specific upcoming events.
